A touch of red

Touches of red here and there breathe of life…
…like feeding strays on a lack lustre day

And lilies framed by Aegean blue.

Of the day’s catch pegged out to dry

And of shutters against a Mediterranean sun…

…and balconies with views into tomorrow…

It sighs as it frames a Venetian knock at the door

And sits majestically against a Minoan pot…

whilst perfectly plump tomatoes beckon in the sun.

Red reflects a tether of fishing boats…

as it highlights my days

like vapour trails in a cloudless sky.

Frannie, this is so nostalgic to me. We have all had these simple moments…the ones we should enjoy and often let slip away in the mad rush of life. How lovely of you to remind us. Simply splendid, my friend. xx's

  • Oh I love this post. And I have to tell you, I've been toying with the idea of doing one about the reds of Greece! I can't believe our minds are of the same persuasion here. . .I couldn't help but notice how the red stood out against the Cyclades blue and white. Beautiful job as always and I love the phrase 'with views out into tomorrow'!

Thank you so much Jackie – I have often thought how alike we are in thought and word! Please write your post about the reds of Greece – would love to see your perspective on a place we both love so much. Have a wonderful week F xx

Thank you Marsha – I couldn't agree more – we fill our lives with so much we so often overlook the simple pleasures sitting there – waiting to be seen – waiting for a moment to touch our lives. Sending you Sydney sunshine and a hug F xx

Your touches of red, little girl in flares and hat with waiting ducks, view of Elounda and a tether of fishing boats. Brilliant – stunning – my touches of red to-day are the sweet cherries I am bottling using your recipe. Thank you for everything. Love

Thank you Cathy – for so long I had only seen the amazing Greek Blue until one day I realised what actually made the blue so amazing were the touches of colour – red in particular. Fx
