Why Crete? It’s small – just one-eighth the size of Tasmania – but has given more to Western culture than any other. The mythical birthplace of Zeus, home of the Minotaur, and home to the Minoan civilization, its legends run deep.
Over 9,000 years of history have shaped this land, leaving traces of Mycenaean, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Venetian, Ottoman, and Egyptian influences. Yet through it all, the Cretan spirit remains unchanged – supremely hospitable, passionate, and fiercely proud.
