Familiar views with different hues

Familiar views with different hues

Softer hues brought about by the passage of time…

When the sun sits low in a cool spring sky.

These familiar views whisper of a gentility

Of gelati and pastels

And sitting amidst pearls and cream.

It’s a familiar view but with dove-greys skies

… and washed-ink seas

Where the two meld in a surreal flourish

As if painted by unseen hands.
It’s familiar views with softened hues
Where the line between art and reality is undefined

And time stands still

Luring me to a place of peace…

Awe…

Solitude…
Serenity…
And escape!

Thank you Costas – I hope you had a fantastic Greek Easter – I could smell the 'arni' roasting from here. I look forward to another Greek Easter in Crete in 2015! Fx

Thank you Millie – you will love it when you go! Yes that is a cat in the window – silently surveying the scene – it was quite surreal really – much like the rest of Oia and Santorini. F xx

    I can't make out what's what – what's real and what isn't . . . but it's all beautiful with an air of tranquility.

Is it really so beautiful? How I would love to run away there in the off season and rent a writing room! Is that possible?? Xcat

Cat you would love it and yes you can rent places out of season – though it becomes very isolated – quiet with VERY few people – just you and the elements and a few locals – for me the best time to be there!. F xx

Esther – it's ALL real – it's just the amazing light – the extraordinary landscape and the many cave houses painted gelati colours which gives Oia its surreal feeling. It's SO beautiful – any time of the year. F x
