The Architecture of the Arch

Santorini ….
the epitome of the architecture of the arch
Deftly hanging from the rock face
Or lapping at the Aegean  ….
….  often interrupting and softening
…. and challenging the view!
It demands attention
…. creates drama
…. framing from within
 and framing from without!
The architecture of the arch ….
…. forms simple lines
…. joyfully plays with light and shade
… and is visually,
such a pleasure!

How delightful and pretty!Arches and curves add so much charm to architecture! And here , they become a symbol of the place , as you know where you are as soon as you see the pictures.

  • How beautiful and cheering! The first shot is amazing. Reminds me a little of Matera in southern Italy but without the sea. Lovely accompanying words too xcat

fabulous images and I see why the arch fascinates us, we had a vaulted ceiling at Borga Nari and I couldn't imagine how the owners made such a thing. See you in a few days, can't wait! ciao lisa x
