January musings

I have a funny feeling I’m about to gallop through another year,
But the problem is I’m not ready.
Because you see, I’m still looking for June and August last year, and come to think about it, I am not sure May was there either?
They tell me they were there… in which case where the Hell was I for three months?
I do think I would have read about the nine-month year of 2013 somewhere, sometime.
I mean surely someone would have reported a short year.

If in fact, they were missing at all.

January.
AGAIN.
Really…So soon?
Time to make those horrible lists called resolutions.
I put pen to paper to write my promises, intentions and wishes for this year.
AGAIN
You see the problem is – they are always the same.
I know, because I keep all my New Year’s Resolutions,
And at the beginning of each year I check them to see what I’ve achieved…
See what I can cross off… and very sadly, very little.

 It reads something like this…
Remember to breathe
Lose some weight… Get more exercise…
Read more… Spend less time looking at a screen
Spend more time pursuing passions – photography, writing, sleeping…
Remember to breathe
See more of X and Y and maybe less of Z!
Plan the next trip…Save for the next trip…Research the next trip…Book the next trip
Remember to breathe…

An interesting list.
A do-able list.
And always the same list re-written onto a new page with a new date.
A least I’m consistent!

2014 is going to be a big year and I’m not sure I’m ready for it.
You see, I turn a very big number… no not 100 – yet!
My Mum turns a very big number too – but not 100
And my sister also turns a very big number as well – no not 100
My daughter turns old enough to get her driver’s licence – now I feel 100
And finishes High School…
…in fact make that 200!

Happy New Year’s Resolutions to You
May they be easy for You
May You have fun with them
And above all,
May You be always consistent!

Thank you for your company and for indulging me my musings and observations.

I wish you laughter, good health and love in 2014

Frannie xx
